Hi, I’m John Ojetunde.

I’ve been building software for more than a decade, from distributed financial systems serving millions, to healthcare platforms, to Y Combinator–backed fintech products. Along the way, I’ve worked as an engineer, consultant, founder, and mentor. I’m always focused on using technology to solve problems at scale.

I’m currently Head of Engineering at Moniepoint Group and also serve as Chief Technology Officer of Iddera, a digital-first health clinic working to make healthcare more accessible. Before these roles, I held engineering and leadership positions at Anchor (YC S22 fintech), Yapily in the UK, TeleSoftas in Lithuania, and TeamApt (now Moniepoint)., where I helped design systems that process millions of daily transactions. In 2020, I also worked with a Mexican crypto company as a Consultant (Senior Software Engineer), where I contributed to scaling and refining their systems.

As a two-time founder, I enjoy building teams and products from scratch, and I remain passionate about helping younger engineers grow. Over the years, I’ve mentored interns who are now thriving as senior developers and product managers, and I’ve taught career-switchers breaking into software engineering.

Outside of code, I explore the world through a lens. Photography is my way of slowing down, noticing details, and telling stories without words. My project, Olu Photos, is where I share those snapshots of life. Follow me on instagram to see the journey

This blog — Commits by John — is my personal commit log: monthly reflections at the intersection of software, startups, and life. Here, I’ll share insights I’ve gathered over more than a decade in technology, from building software and leading teams to starting companies and learning through experience.

I hope these posts spark ideas, offer perspective, and maybe even help you on your own path. Follow along as I continue to build, learn, and share.
